Types of Sunglass Lenses
Today, sunglass lenses are available in a variety of lens choices.
Polarized Lenses are best for cutting down reflected glare. There's no better sunglass choice for driving
or for outdoor activities on water or snow. Polarized lenses reduce light, filter unwanted glare and block harmful UVA
and UVB rays. And they are available in non-prescription and prescription lens options.
Tinted Lenses are available in a variety of lens choices for a variety of activities. For sunglasses the
best choices are brown, green or gray. For hunting or other activities that require increased contrast choose yellow
tints. For activity in the snow, brown provides better contrast.
UV Protection (Ultraviolet Protection): UV rays have been linked to cataracts and long-term eye
damage like macular degeneration. Ultraviolet light is not visible to the human eye. UVA rays penetrate deeper into
the eye than UVB. UVB causes sunburn and can damage the cornea and lens of the eye. SVS recommends
UV protection on all
eyewear, and especially sunglasses. Some lenses come with UV
