According to The Vision Council, children who spend a lot of time doing outdoor activities should wear sunglasses, otherwise they risk intense UV exposure which would hurt their developing eyes. For adults, a lifetime of UV exposure can cause fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, and accelerate eye aging diseases such as cataracts and macular degeneration. So no matter your age or lifestyle, you should always wear sunglasses in the sunlight.
Besides offering protection, sunglasses help you enjoy outdoor activities. A good pair of sunglasses enhances your vision while driving, playing outdoor sports, and enjoying casual time with your family and friends. Celebrate National Sunglasses Month with a brand new pair of sunglasses for the whole family.
If you wear prescription glasses, you can still enjoy clear vision while protecting your eyes from UV rays. Our exclusive EyeDef SunShield lenses offer UV protection in any weather. Featuring polarized lenses, EyeDef SunShield lenses eliminate glare and improve sight quality. They’re a must-have for anyone living an active lifestyle.
Whether you prefer classic style sunglasses, or bold modern designs, we have a range of designer sunglasses to fit your personal style. SVS Vision carries classic designs by Ray Ban, fashionable styles by Gucci, and performance models by Oakley; these are just a few of the designers we carry. You can browse to find a pair in your perfect size, shape, and color; you can even “try on” a pair by uploading your image in our Virtual Mirror feature. based SVS Vision is partnering with VSP®
Vision Care and Transitions Optical to bring a full stocked
40-foot, state of the art mobile eye exam clinic to Carver Elementary on May 29
and Noble Elementary on May 30, providing free, comprehensive eye exams and
eyewear to many students in need.
While onboard the mobile clinic, pre-qualified students
requiring prescription glasses will have the opportunity to select from frames
of their choice fitted with customized Transitions® adaptive lenses™
to help enhance their vision by reducing glare and blocking 100 percent of
harmful UV radiation. Mobile literacy outreach program, Bess the Book Bus, will
donate books to children at both schools and Radio Disney will be there to perform
and entertain the children. “It was an easy decision to partner for the fourth year in a
row with VSP, Transitions Optical and Bess the Book Bus,” said Cathy Walker,
vice president of marketing and advertising, SVS Vision. “Because of our SVS Vision mobile eye exam
program, we recognize just how great the need for this kind of service is in
Detroit. The commitment of these
partnering organizations is outstanding and we’re excited to provide support
through SVS Vision doctors, staff and our management team.”
Many parents rely on vision screening in school to check tor
children’s vision problems; however, screenings are not enough. Common vision
problems like poor eye coordination, lazy eye and farsightedness are often
missed during a screening. A comprehensive eye exam not only checks for these
vision problems, but also for signs of chronic health conditions like diabetes,
which is a growing problem among children.
Day one of the two-day community outreach program is
scheduled for Wednesday, May 29 at Carver Elementary located at 18701 Paul
Street in Detroit. Day two of the event will take place on Thursday, May 30 at
Noble Elementary located at 8646 Fullerton Street in Detroit.

Mobile Eyes Clinic
inception, the VSP Mobile Eyes® program has had over 1,000 VSP doctors
volunteer their time participating in 451 events and helping more than 133,000

people in need in communities throughout the U.S. In March 2010, Transitions
